Half Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

My personal best running record was when I was 24.  I was engaged, but didn't fit in my wedding dress.  Running several days per week altered me so that the dress could be worn without being let out.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Run a half-marathon with my sister.  (She doesn't know it yet.) I will have to run fast to keep up with that lucky skunk.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Learn to love running.  If that happens, then I may want to run a marathon someday.

Personal:

Married.  One supportive husband, four beautiful daughters and one busy son.

Felt good most of the run.  Ran the whole way instead of walking some.  Felt sluggish in mile 4, but picked up motivation and good form again in mile 5.  Ran fast down the few hills.  Sprinted into the finish.  I was really motivated by Nan's description of what her coach advised about deliberately picking a pace at the beginning that would leave something in the tank for the miles at the end.  I had been trying to really push it hard in that first mile, but her comment helped me realize that I needed to start with a wiser (not slow, but not sprinting either) starting pace.

Way to go Elisse! You're awesome! I'm so proud of you!!! I can see you running down those hills and sprinting into the finish. When's your half marathon?

It's off the books. It turned out to be a Sunday run, so I'm looking for a substitute. Maybe at the end of January.
